Busitema Guild President Opens Talks with FAWE Uganda on Student Mental Health and Accommodation
Busitema University Guild President Onesmus Kamara met with FAWE Uganda Executive Director Mrs Susan Opok on 3 September 2026 at the organisation’s head office in Bukoto, Kampala, for discussions centred on student mental health and accommodation.
The meeting explored the possibility of a strategic partnership on a Mental Health Awareness Campaign, with both sides considering how such an initiative could support students and strengthen attention to mental wellbeing within the University community.
The discussion also turned to the growing pressure on student accommodation across Busitema University campuses. Kamara raised the possibility of working with non-governmental organisations and other partners to support hostel development through public-private partnerships, as one way of easing the current accommodation challenge.
He encouraged FAWE Uganda to explore the idea further with University Management, particularly around partnerships that could expand student housing options and contribute to better welfare across the campuses.
The meeting now opens the way for further engagement with University Management as the parties explore whether the ideas discussed can be developed into workable initiatives for students.
